Available in several grains and colors, each type offers a different look that is perfect for creating a variety of popular aquascape styles. Controsand is a natural product and is safe for all planted tank and freshwater aquarium applications. Give it a rinse with clean water before use to remove finer grains and ensure a crystal clear start.
UNS Controsand is available in 3L and 8L bags, making it suitable for nano tanks to large show aquariums! As a baseline, we recommend the 3L bag for nano tank sizes up to the UNS 45U rimless aquarium. The 8L bag is ideal for use in larger tanks starting at the UNS 60U and above! Kona Controsand is a rounded pebble gravel designed for freshwater aquarium use. Kona’s deeper tones can be used as a supporting feature or to create excellent contrast. Like other Controsands, Kona can be used alone or mixed with other substrates for a custom look in planted tanks, terrariums, paludariums and more. We've used Kona as part of a custom substrate blend for our Iwagumi aquascape in the UNS 90L rimless tank!
